Research Scientist, New York University College of Dentistry
I'm a Biologist from Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a major on Genetics and Evolution. I then moved to Aberdeen, Scotland, where I gained my PhD in Molecular Biology and experienced rainfall in all its forms. My thesis work was on the regulation of morphogenesis in the fungal human pathogen Candida albicans. After a brief postdoc at Columbia University working with Candida albicans, I moved to Page Caufield's lab in New York University, where we study oral bacteria.
- Bacterial diversity in the oral cavity with a focus on severe-early childhood caries
- Virulence attributes of Streptococcus mutans and dental caries (tooth decay)
- Virulence attributes of Lactobacillus spp. and dental caries
- Co-evolution between Streptococcus mutans and its primate hosts
- Comparative genomics
