Course materials by Tracy Heath & Conor Meehan on Phylogenetic Inference Using MrBayes v3.2 (2013).

## Lab Practical

### Introduction

A brief intro to some Bayesian phylogenetics programs (slides)

### Guided tutorial on Bayesian phylogenetic inference using MrBayes v3.2

The detailed tutorial and data files can be found here:

http://treethinkers.org/phylogenetic-inference-using-mrbayes-v3-2/

### Getting started

MrBayes is installed on the class clusters so there is no need to install locally for these exercises.

It is suggested you create a folder called 'mrbayes' on the cluster and within that complete the work for this lab.

The datasets and sample output can be downloaded onto the cluster by typing on your command line

wget http://treethinkers.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/1-Exercise.zip unzip 1-Exercise.zip wget http://treethinkers.org/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/2-Exercise.zip unzip 2-Exercise.zip

On your own machine, make sure that FigTree and Tracer installed. The links to download these are below.

### Software

- MrBayes v3.2
- FigTree
- Tracer
- DendroPy (*optional)
